Le past perfect parle d'une action qui s'est passée avant celle au prétérit.
Sur une échelle de temps =>
----past perfect ---------------prétérit -------------> présent
a- We studied an excerpt drom Robinson Crusoe yesterday.
b- This idea came to Defoe after he had heard about Alexander Selkirk.
c- Alexander had lived alone for four years an a desert island when a British ship found him.
d- Yet Defoe told quite a different story from what the sailor had lived through.
e- I really enjoyed this class, it was the first time I had reallly learnt about the character of Robinson Crusoe.
